Has anyone heard of the Tilia tomentosa to be poisonous to bees?

I was surfing and came across this bit of info. We all know you can't believe everything read but has anyone seen this before?

Silver Linden 60 ft. Tilia tomentosa
This is a beautiful specimen tree. The upper leaf surface is dark green, but the undersides are densely covered with hairs, which give them a silver color. When the leaves are blown in the wind, the silver undersurfaces can be seen giving a beautiful effect. This tree should not be planted in areas where there is a large amount of dust or soot present as it will collect on the hairy leaves and make them unsightly. Flowers of this species have been reported to be poisonous to bees.

I read it on one site but couldn't find anything else to substansiate that claim. Kinda curious now.

RE: Has anyone heard of the Tilia tomentosa to be poisonous to bees?

Michael Dirr, a horticulturist and a professor of horticulture at the University of Georgia said they are supposedly narcotic to bees.

A few not so trusted sources said this:
The nectar contains sugars which cannot be digested by bumble bees, to which the tree is somewhat toxic to them, it can have a narcotic effect on bees and they may crash out, sometimes fatally, beneath the tree. It can leave numerous dead and comatose bumble bees on the street below the tree.

But one other source from a Germany nursery said this:

Contrary to some rumours, insects are not poisoned by the honey of T. tomentosa. A study by Prof. Dr. Surholt showed that a decrease in nectar-providing plants leads to a lack of food for bees. The late-flowering T. tomentosa is an important source of food for insects, but too many insects compete for the same source when only one is available far and wide. Hence, numerous bumble-bees and some bees die of starvation under this tree.
