    Please HELP With Dying Tree

Hi everyone I am new to the forum. I live in the lower east side of Michigan {Zone 6} and have some serious problems with my White Pine Trees {I think}. I have six trees in a row, only one is dying but it is starting to effect both of the trees on either side of it. Besides the trees that are effected the rest seem to be growing well. Needles on the tree are turning light brown and yellowish with limbs not even producing needles anymore. Please give me some help so that I can save these trees!!!! I must resize the pictues of the tree. I will post them momentarily. Thank you for any help you may have.

RE: Please HELP With Dying Tree

    Hi,

Those look like Norway spruce (Picea abies) trees. You've definitely got at least one tree there that's declining, and is most likely already a goner. If you looked, you could probably find some diseases and pests on the tree, but in most cases the tree becomes susceptible to these problems because it's already under stress. In this case, I'd think that ordinary stress of being a street tree, coupled with the fact that those trees are planted rather close together, would be to blame. The second and third trees from the right are becoming suppressed by their neighbors. In a forest, when trees are in close competition, a percentage of the individuals must die in order for the rest to continue growing.

Bring in a certified arborist to examine them firsthand. At least a couple of them will probably need to be removed, which may leave some aesthetically jarring gaps, especially since the adjacent foliage in the neighboring trees will be sparse or absent - always a risk when trees are planted tightly in a row.

Just an idea... You might be able to fix the bald spot by turning the row into a random pattern by planting additional trees behind the row without evenly spacing them and by planting some shrubs in front of the existing row to mask the trunks from the street so it will not look apparent that something is missing.
