hello. during last year we had a big winter storm and it did some damage to this tree. part of me wants to just cut it down and hope it will grow back. but i have no idea what kind this is. could someone help me.

kind of resembles redbud, but not sure.

do you see any seed pods? Does the tree produce a dark pink flower early in the spring?
