Is there Boy Firewood and Girl firewood?

I split a log open to find this natural formation.

Looks to me like the tree grew out around a branch that probably died earily in the tree's life. I think it's pretty common with a lot of the wild pine around here. Lodgepole, mostly. It's lower branches tend to die off regularly as it reaches skyward. They'll break off from animals such as deer rubbing off their velvet against them, etc. Then as the rest of the tree grows out, in envelopes what was left of that branch.
