    RE: Gangly Yoshino

well i would wait until about march or april, before you prune. This will let it establish through the winter months. You could also ask a local tree service company what they recommend.

RE: help, my pin oak is dying

Theres nothing to worry about. The curling leaves are still functional, and will support tree growth. It shouldn't affect the other tree at all. Keep me posted on the tree condition.

  5. RE: weeping pussywillow tree does not weep

What makes the willow weep is the heavy leaves, and flexible branches. All I can tell you is to be patient and it will weep on its own.

    RE: Poplar tree pruning

Well you might kill it if you top it like that, and if it doesnt die it will not be healthy. Your best bet is to leave the lead and prune uneven parts of the poplar. Like a haircut.

    RE: Apple Seeds

Just keep the temperature in the dirt at above 60 degrees. This should ensure the tree will live. Good luck with it.

    RE: TORNADO

You could try some wrap around the tree. It will act as a bark until the tree heals itself. That should help it along.

  21. RE: Please Help, Which Trees Do I Plant on the Prairie?

I would go with blue spruce, for a wind break. They should grow in that type of soil. They withstand wind very well and are sure not to be harmful to horses. The ranch just north of me uses them.
