View Full Version : Can you identify this tree in Jacksonville, FL?

This picture was taken just a couple of weeks ago and the "fruit" has already fallen. Can you tell me what kind of tree it is?

Looks kind of like a Mammee apple (Mammea americana)
What is the diameter of the fruit and what colors are inside the fruit like seed color and the fruit flesh color etc. Also maybe how long are the leaves.

The "fruit" is smooth on the outside. The "spots" are pinkish with a dark green background. The "fruit" seems to be the texture of a kiwi but when found on the ground it resembled an overturned toadstool with no definite "seeds". It is soft like a mushroom as well. Size similar to an average lemon.

Each leaf frond possibly averages five inches depending on stage of growth.
