Can someone please identify this tree?

This is my guess: Nyssa sylvatica var. biflora
Where is it?

This tree is located in central NJ and growing in a sandy area. Seems to be the only tree of its kind in the area.

You can see where the deer are browsing it heavily.

To be honest, it' doesn't look like the kind of site Black Gum or Swamp Tupelo occur. Dry, sandy with pines... Not really their ideal. Although they do sometimes pop up in dry upland locations.

I hope someone can lend a second opinion though.

Do you have a photo showing the entire tree? That would help too.

Honestly, this one is a bit of a stumper. It looks like it's probably in Rosaceae (rose family) to me, but I'm reaching even with that.
