View Full Version : Can my beech tree be saved?

I had a question regarding a beech tree which is planted in my yard. I am in the process of removing some older and unhealthy red oaks which surrounded the beech tree. The beech tree looks alot like a pipe cleaner and really doesn't have any large branches on it. The tree itself is a mature specimen, approx. 1-2 ft. in diameter. The individual who is taking down my oaks suggested that it be taken down because it probably would not generate any new growth and that it would always look like a big "pipe cleaner" (he is a licensed arborist). Is there hope for this tree or should I have it taken down? I'm really just looking for a second opinion. It is in direct sunlight now, soil is very acidic and very moist. I reside in Zone 5. Thanks for any assistance. -Dave[/u][/i][/b]

I don't have digital capability, but perhaps I can find someone who can. That may help in the diagnosing.
